"Everything in the MRX 510 is well designed and executed... Anthem has put sound quality front and center" - Secrets of Home Theater

Everything in the MRX 510 is well designed and executed. The setup and menu system are easy to navigate, using ARC is quick and painless, and the amplifier never ran out of power when I pushed it. People look for different things in a receiver. If what you are looking for is sound quality then you should look at the MRX 510 as Anthem has put that front and center.” – Chris Heinonen and Dr. David A Rich

"...Anthem is a terrific choice. Rarely have we heard a multi-channel amplifier sound so accomplished" - What Hi-Fi? on Anthem MRX 510

When you see 5 stars and the sub-heading of the review is: "If you put sound performance ahead of features this Anthem is a terrific choice. Rarely have we heard a multi-channel amplifier sound so accomplished with music", you know it's going to be a winner. In the case of the What Hi-Fi? review of the Anthem MRX 510, that's exactly what it is! Have read...

Movies
"Detail levels are high with the amplifier uncovering layers of information in the most complex of scenes. Tonally, things are spot-on – as would be expected with such capable set-up software – and there’s none of the veiled quality and lack of low-level dynamic expression such equalisation normally adds. We like the top-to-bottom consistency too and the amplifier’s ability to keep its composure when things get demanding, even when volume levels head northward."

"While impressive, it’s not the Anthem’s way with large-scale action films that makes it stand out among good upmarket home cinema amplifiers. Most do that really well. To find out what makes this amplifier different you’ll have to move to smaller scale soundtracks; those that need finesse to sound good."

"Dialogue is delivered with confidence and subtlety with nuances in voices communicated superbly. The Anthem’s midrange is crisp, clear and focused, and has enough in the way of natural warmth to convince."

Music
"It has strong dynamics, a lovely consistency throughout the frequency range and even does a grand job presenting the rhythmical elements of a track. Want an AV amplifier that plays music well? This Anthem is it."

Conclusion
"... judge an amplifier on sound performance alone and it becomes clear that this is one of the standout products below the two grand mark. A home cinema amplifier that can keep music lovers happy too – that is a rare thing indeed."

Audioholics Digs Deep Into ARC with Anthem's Nick Platsis and Dr. Peter Schuck

One of the most influential products that we have made at Anthem is ARC (Anthem Room Correction). If you're reading this blog, you are probably an Anthem fan boy and know what we're talking about. However, for many dabbling with A/V may not. Regardless of what your level of expertise is, Audoholics has just published a great read for those who want to dig deeper into the roots of ARC and what it's all about.

"When Anthem launched their proprietary Anthem Room Correction solution, commonly known as ARC, in 2007, it received widespread praise from many corners of the industry for a single reason: it worked and worked well.  Fast forward seven years later and most A/V enthusiasts are probably aware of many different room correction systems, including Anthem’s ARC."

"While room correction is becoming more wide-spread, what's less clear is how these systems actually work and the differences between each system.  Even the more knowledgeable audio buffs out there would be hard pressed to tell you the finer details of these systems i.e. what kind of filters they utilize, operational bandwidth, etc. So what did we do? We started peppering the purveyors of Room EQ products with questions in hopes of getting a clearer picture of what  they offer.
As part of our ongoing series on room correction solutions, Audioholics talked with Anthem's Dr. Peter Schuck and Nick Platsis about the various aspects of ARC. "

"Anthem really impressed me with this receiver, even more so than I was initially expecting." - Secrets of Home Theater on the MRX 310

After hearing how impressed Robert Kozel was of the MRX 710, Secrets of Home Theater wanted to put its littlest brother, the MRX 310 to the test. So we sent an MRX 310 off to Carlo Lo Raso for evaluation. Below is a summary of his thoughts...

"Anthem really impressed me with this receiver, even more so than I was initially expecting. With an excess of capable A/V receivers out there vying for your attention, it may be easy to overlook the Anthem MRX 310 because it doesn’t have the latest “gee whiz” features. That would be a serious mistake."

"This receiver makes you reassess what’s really important for the front end of your home theater. In this case, sometimes 5.1 channels can be as good as or better than 7.1 for the right size room. Quality amplification and componentry are more important than having another box that streams stuff."

"The Anthem Room Correction System is, in my opinion, a superior method to help get the best sound from your speakers and room. The onboard amplification is of excellent sonic quality and its capability is robust, belying the modest power and load ratings. You can add more power later if you need it as an extra bonus. These are things that matter in our little hobby and they translate into a longer term value for the up-front investment that you make."

"I had a great time listening to MRX 310 and it was honestly hard to send this one back when I was done. So who would pay around $1200.00 for this 5.1 channel receiver with a hell of a nice sound quality? If I was in the market……I would."

MRX 510 receives stellar review from Everything Audio Network & a Stellar Sound Award to boot!

In a recent review from Everything Audio Network, writer Russ Long said the "MRX 510 delivers the goods better than units costing at least a thousand dollars more." He then awarded the MRX 510 with the "Stellar Sound" award.  Below is 'the verdict' from Long's review...

"Delivers the goods better than units costing at least a thousand dollars more."

The verdict
"While easily fitting into the mid-priced receiver category, Anthem’s MRX 510 delivers the goods better than units costing at least a thousand dollars more. The included-ARC package provides an easy yet effective way to configure a listening space, and the unit can easily power typical surround speaker setups — without any audible signs of strain. The resulting sound is smooth and natural with a clean defined bottom end and pristine, high-frequency shimmer. Sonically, and feature wise, Anthem’s MRX 510 is a lot of receiver for the money. Definitely worthy of the Everything Audio Network Stellar Sound Award."

Anthem MRX 710 earns Sound & Vision Top Pick Award & 4.5 star Review from Mark Fleischmann

We are proud to share that the Anthem MRX 710 received an absolutely raving review from Sound & Vision. Earning a Sound & Vision "Top Pick" award and an overall rating of 4.5 stars, it's safe to say that reviewer, Mark Fleischmann is a huge fan of our top of the line a/v receiver.

"The MRX 710 had a no-nonsense personality that combined a crisp presentation with strong dynamics... The Anthem MRX 710 is a high- performance receiver with state- of-the-art room correction that miraculously does no harm (as the Hippocratic Oath would have it). The underlying amplifier sounds great on its own... the confidently dynamic Anthem sound is one that’ll please the overwhelming majority of listeners."

THE VERDICT
"The top model among Anthem’s second-generation receivers omits needless features and splurges on performance.

Anthem MRX 510 receives fantastic review and Editor's Choice award from Canada HiFi

Suave Kajko of Canada HiFi recently reviewed the MRX 510 and LOVED it. So much so, that it earned Canada HiFi's 5 star Editor's Choice award. Here's a quick summary of the review...

"The Anthem MRX 510 AV receiver does not offer an extensive list of features like some of the other AV receviers out there today. Instead what it offers is a musical soul that is unlike any other, which can give you goose bumps while listening to  music and total immersion when watching movies. When researching AV receivers, do yourself a great faavour, and make sure to listen to one of these new Anthem MRX models. Once you discover their sound performance, you'll almost certainly want to bring one home. Remember there are three models to choose from, for all room and pocket sizes. The MRX 510 gets my highest level of recommendation which goes hand in hand with the CANADA HiFi Editor's Choice award."

"If you take your music as seriously as you do your video-based entertainment, it's worth seeking out & auditioning." - Andrew Everard on the MRX 510

The UK has pumped out another great MRX review. This one, published by Andrew Everard, focuses on the MRX 510. Below is a quote from Andrew’s review…

This is an intriguing product, not just due to the flexibility of that room correction system, but because it eschews the usual AV receiver ‘bells and whistles’ trend and concentrates on providing the features more buyers will use, plus a captivating sound. It may not come from one of the first names many will consider when looking at products of this kind, but if you take your music as seriously as you do your video-based entertainment, it’s worth seeking out and auditioning. You may just find yourself as taken with it as I did in that crowded Bristol demonstration room.”

We highly recommend that you read the full review.

Trusted Reviews gives the Anthem MRX 310 an overall score of 9/10 and "Recommended" status

The Anthem MRX 310 received a fantastic review from Trusted Reviews in the UK, earning Recommended status and an overall score of 9/10!

The review is definitely worth a read from front to back, but below is a great quote that sums it up…

The MRX 310 delivers powerful, focused and finessed sound quality, the likes of which you’d expect from a receiver costing twice as much. But what seals the deal is ARC 1M, which we consider to be the best room correction system on the market. The way it polishes performance to suit your room acoustics is nothing short of a revelation, and because it’s controlled via Ethernet, it’s now easier to use than ever. Combine this with user-friendly operation, top-drawer build quality, plentiful HDMI inputs and an attractive design and you've got an AV receiver that enthusiasts really can’t afford to miss... The marvellous MRX 310 improves on its predecessor with a revamped room correction system, easier operation and more sockets, and thankfully its sound quality is just as mind-blowing.”
